Discuss “Suspicious package identified behind Hamburg Hall; bomb threat negative”

A suspicious package was identified at approximately 12:30 Thursday afternoon on the Carnegie Mellon campus. The package was found in a car behind Hamburg Hall, according to an article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

At about 12:30 p.m., a car belonging to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police chased

a small white compact car into the Forbes Avenue driveway and pulled it over in front of Newell-Simon Hall. The driver was the only person in the car. Shortly thereafter, several unmarked police cars barricaded the suspicious vehicle in front of the Collaborative Innovation Center.

The university did not issue an official evacuation notification.
