Breaking: Carnegie Mellon student struck by vehicle on Forbes

A Doherty Apartments resident is in serious condition after being struck by a car while riding his bike on Forbes Avenue at approximately 9:11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20.

The South 10th Street Bridge (above), which spans the Monongahela River to connect downtown Pittsburgh and the South Side, is one of over 1900 bridges in Allegheny County. Many of these have been classified as “structurally deficient” by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, including the nearby Boulevard of the Allies Bridge, which is currently under construction. Other bridges in the area receiving facelifts include the Homestead Grays Bridge, the Hot Metal Bridge, and the Birmingham Bridge.
